Seasonal Mylar: Four Transparent Seasons and One Floating Heart in the Depths of 2020

As the winter solstice begins and 2020 comes to an end, I am thrilled to present my 20th and final works on paper sale of the year - a seasonal series of brilliant abstract paintings on transparent Mylar created with ink and colored pencils by multimedia artist Keren Anavy. The paintings correspond to the changing colors and forms of each season experienced in both her new and old homes of New York City and Israel. They include all aspects of each periodic shift: plants, atmosphere, feelings, and even personal memories and emotions experienced. Through her materials and her luscious use of color, Keren recreates her perception of nature, the transient and temporal characteristics of our existence, providing hope and optimism for the year to come. Multiple layers of fluid compositions, spread via injection independent of the human hand, result in patterns both unimagined and unplanned. This unpredictable nature of the ink mimics our existence in this wild year. I could stare at the dynamic colors all day, shifting as the light passes, ever changing like the seasons.

"I hope that during these troubling times, my paintings become hopeful meditations on the seasons as a symbol of our connection to nature and its place in our life. I'm trying to grasp these fragments of lights and nature before they slip away…" - K.A.
