Petite Paintings

Hannah Beerman is a magical human and artist, and I’ll forever be thankful to quarantine for connecting us and bringing her light into my universe. One of the most genuine humans I’ve crossed orbits with, Hannah started a momentous initiative - Artists for Humans - during quarantine in an effort to help our city's most vulnerable populations through the generosity of many amazing artists. Not only did this project help hundreds of people financially, donating all proceeds to various charities, but it  also connected networks within our community, including her & I. Her energy and effort helped many creatives to stay inspired and continue to grow while continuing self isolation. I’m so excited to present this physical representation of Hannah’s growth - an exploration smaller in size yet loaded with life and freedom - Petite Paintings. While collage is painting and painting is collage, this series relies more on the physicality of actual paint as opposed to her signature mixed media surfaces. The colors and textures are delicious, creating movement that will make eyes vibrate. Different elements are revealed on each surface each time I look, often depending on my mood. The possibilities of what my brain perceives are endless, but the energy is constant; the paintings are ever changing and appear alive. Fitting, as that’s exactly how they behave until they leave Hannah’s lair and venture out into the world. I hope they bring you as much warmth, joy, and curiosity as they do to me. <3
